It had to do with kryptonians not having interlocking genitalia. I don't even remember what you said about it though. :)

What was the original Superman joke and what did I say about it?

I think someone picking up a book one is going to assume that they'll be lost if they don't read that first. Like starting an ongoing miniseries in issue three. You can certainly set the perception that chronology isn't important to the comic (although I think certain running-gags are started in book one, like Palpatine, and that might be important to the reading expeience). Either that, or they're completionists and want the whole thing. Maybe look at it like that?

It'll totally be a science project. By the time book 4 is out I'll have them all on display and if someone picks up the first book I'll be like, "Really...? Book 1?... Okaaaaaaaay...." And make them feel all crappy about it.

Hulk hate science. Spell it out for Hulk.

Treat it like a science project. An anthropological study!

Archiving is painful. Yeo asked me why I didn't just put out a best of TPB and I told her there would always be one strip someone wanted to be in there that wasn't. As much as I'd like to pretend the War of the Worlds strip doesn't exist - it'll make it in there.

Makes sense that you would keep them in the same format, but don't dis the old artwork! Archiving the evolution is key!

I only redrew the Flash because it wasn't done up the same way as the others. Also I can't stand looking at my art work back then. As much content as I can get in that's ne w - the better.

Why are you redrawing them, Joe?

Post by batsofchaos » Thu Dec 11, 2008 8:56 pm

I like all of them and would like to see them all in the book. I'll live so long as Cyclops, Flash, Daredevil, Professor X, and Supes are included. Supes would need to be the last one, though.

I redid the Flash one this afternoon for the book. Came out pretty neat. :)

I laughed at six, but I don't think invisible pushed it enough, so that's off.
Supes--Kind of Average, but the Hulk line steals it
Flash---Again with Hulk andstealing things, no wonder he's sometimes a bad guy
Capt. America
Hellboy--You got his personality down man
Preacher-Just love the comic and character to be honest

Maybe because The Blob's a bit too easy. He's a really, really fat guy. As a reader you kind of almost guess that the Blob doesn't get any.

Now if you'd gone the other way, indicated that he was a very well-sexed individual, he might be in the running.

Post by joerules » Thu Dec 11, 2008 3:31 pm

Maybe... I'm getting a good idea of what people like though. There are about 5 good ones and 5 bad ones. I can't believe The Blob isn't getting more love actually.
