JLCM question

What happened to the "about the comic" section in the review? it hasn't been present in the last few strips and i really enjoy getting an artist's insight on the creative process or reasoning for a joke in a comic. i've been left with an empty feeling deep down inside.

I was afraid I was using it too much. Plus in the back of my mind I always have this nagging feeling that, if I'm explaining the joke then it's not funny. I know that there's usually more to that section of the review, that it explains inspiration and actual relation to real life but I guess I'm always cautious of over explaining the joke. :)

For what it's worth:

The Dragonball strip was a struggle. I spent all afternoon looking for a fresh approach and even ended up writing the review in full hoping it would inspire me with a flash of genius I could use in the comic. It did not. I went with something a little safe but part of me wishes I'd just done a comic about "Dragon Balls". It's nice to have these simple jokes from time to time though. It keeps the strip from being just random pop culture references. I like the Family Guy but I don't want to be the Family Guy.

Observe and Report was a joke that was better in my head than it was on paper. The original punchline was something more along the lines of "Nah, that shit looks ridiculous." I loved the joke when I wrote it on Friday of last week and felt very content that I'd found something good. as I was doing it though the magic was gone and I kind of futz over it too much. It's another one of those jokes that works and is cute, but it's not exactly "e-mail to a friend" hilarious.

This week so far feels like a couple of in-between comics...
