I've put this off for a couple of reasons. The biggest I'm going to say is laziness and procrastination. Whenever I have something important to announce or say, I always feel it deserves my full attention. I never really have time to devote that amount of time to any one thing so it never get's done. The second reason would be nerves. It's a huge project that I'm equally excited and nervous about. It's going great and I'm really pleased with the work, but god knows how it will be received. And there's a lot to live up to.
Ok...
Last week it was announced that I will be taking over the artistic duties on Mitch Clem's The Coffee Achievers
http://www.coffeeachievers.netIt was a huge honor to be asked by Mitch to participate in this epic adventure. So good that, even with the current comic work load - I had to say yes. It was too good to pass up. If you don't believe me - go read the first three chapters that Mitch had originally done. In terms of web comics it's completely fresh and original. I read a good deal of the following chapters and it's amazing how Mitch weaves it all together. When it's complete and put together it'll be nice to have my name attached to this perfect little adventure. Mitch, I can't say thanks enough.
So, for those who haven't read it over at the official Coffee Achievers web site i will be redrawing the first three chapters, and every chapter after. (Just to keep the look united. Before the official launch I'll be doing one pin-up a week to tease the fans. I'm trying to feature characters and specific moments in the revealed story so far.
The first which went up last week is of my current favorite character Alice. i admit to having a bit of a crush on her even though she's a cartoon and a lesbian. We want what we can not have.
http://coffeeachievers.net/comics/20050617.jpgThis weeks pinup is of Karen and Fletcher from Chapter 3 of the existing story. Go read the story for the full background, but for those not in the know - neither was expecting to wake up next to the other.
http://coffeeachievers.net/comics/20050624.gifI'll keep things updated here, but for the official Live journal Coffee Achievers feed sign up here:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/coffeeachievers/For people new to the strip, I think you'll really enjoy it. It's a great adventure with some of the most defined identifiable web comic characters out there. For people that have read and loved the strip, I hope you can continue to do so with my art. i realize it's a big shift. Mitch and I do things differently, and this will be his world seen through my eyes. I'm really trying to capture the world as best I can. I hope you all dig it.
