The pimps are now confirmed for Anime Boston May 22nd-24th, our first show this deep into New England. If you're into animated violence or cartoon porno then you now have a whole new reason to attend. To meet Irv and try to persuade him into doing one or both of those things.

We'll be chilling with Jorge Vega who will also be at the show so make sure you bring enough money for our crap, his awesome book 9 months... and all that porno.

Yeah, like it would really take much persuasion to get Irv to do either of those. Man, Jorge is going to be there too? I'm sad I won't be.

You can come to ACEN with me and Josh and Russell. We're going to go see Star Trek the first night of the con. ;)

A google search for ACEN tells me that you're going to an animal handling convention. :?

I wish! :P

ACEN is anime central, one of the larger mid-west anime cons, which takes place in Chicago (same place as Wizard World Chicago). www.acen.org is the website, if you're interested.

Joe, this isn't your first anime convention is it?

People are always telling me anime shows are the way to go because kids are more willing to shell out money at these things.

But I've also been told unless your comic has an obvious anime influence, it's like any other show.

We did one last year and the TvB stuff went over huge. It's a good crowd for it which is why we're doing a couple anime show's this year. what was nice is that there was still some cross over people. Some folks recognized us for JLCM and Matriculated. It's not as obvious but they are a good crowd.

Just to be safe though we're showing up with a new shirt:

You are going to fucking clean up with that shirt.

I don't like anime, but I LOVE that shirt.

It sounded like a nice idea at the time but I fear it'll be one of those shirts people won't buy because they won't want to admit they're a pervert. Like I'd never buy a shirt that says, "Veronica Mars gives me a boner." no matter how true it may be.

You might not buy a shirt that says "Veronica Mars gives me a boner," but there are plenty of pervs that would.

Remember those "Big Johnson" shirts from the mid 90's? Some twerpy guy playing volleyball or posing as a fireman with some kind of exaggerated phallus and big chested ladies on the shirts?

The "I (tentacle) Anime" shirt is tongue in cheek like that. I think it plays with the misconception that anime is for pervs.

Actually, I think you'll sell out. From what my friends have told me about the crowd types at anime cons, they're a very free bunch and have tons of money to part with. Russell, a friend of Trevor and myself, sold tons at ACEN and it turned out one of the most profitable cons for a number of folks I know who decided to give it a whirl as their first anime con behind a table.
It will probably be the first con I table at since the booths are cheap and I'll actually have stuff out by then.
