The mask reminds me of Sub-Zero. I don't know if that's a good thing or not.

The mask to me indicates either Bane is being forced to use Venom (which makes me worry, solely due to the mindless brute he was in Batman Forever), or they needed a way to make it obvious he was juicing up, rather than just injecting it or taking pills. Either way, it seems to limit the ability to convey emotion which makes me think he'll be less of a magnificent bastard and more a mindless brute.

But then again, if he was wearing the luchador mask it would limit emotions even more, so I can't really complain.

Huh. I didn't have that feeling at all, I just thought it made him look like a total psycho. Bane IS a hitman after all, so its possible someone (in the mob?) hired Bane to break Batman. At one point, a reporter said Ra's Ah Ghul was going to be in the film, but Liam Neeson is merely "rumored" on the cast list. It'd be interesting if Ra's returns, and is using Bane to defeat Batman. I'm not sure if that would be repetitive or if his character would book-end the trilogy nicely.

I wouldn't mind bringing back Neeson. I'll always think of Bane as he was in Knightfall, a leader rather than a hitman. That said, the character has had some nice development over the years (I love Secret Six), so I can handle him as a tool... just I still have bad feelings just because of Batman and Robin (not Forever like I said earlier).

That said, if it were to treat Bane like in Knightfall, it may seem a bit derivative of The Dark Knight, simply in that "a new freak comes to town, starts a new crime empire and takes on The Bat directly". Bringing the story full circle, back to gangsters and the league of assassins, is a nice way to finish off the trilogy. I always liked Batman the best fighting mobsters anyway (probably part of why I'm such an Ennis' Punisher fan).

I think one of the best things about Bane is that he's a match for Batman both physically and mentally before the venom. It's a shame that most people remember him as the guy who uses venom

Maybe there's a before and after Bane? It's hard to see in a world devoid of superheroes why he'd need to steroid it up before losing to Batman. I don't think there's much chance of Nolan messing this one up, the first two have to be the best superhero franchise of recent years, delivering 2 rock-solid films that have been well-recieved critically, and don't just appeal to comic book fans.

It's sad to see there isn't anything being said here about the movie. We just got in, avoided opening weekend due to insane lines and all sold-out features.

It was great, but not as good as The Dark Knight. I liked the entire arc of these films. Don't want to say too much, but I feel really satisfied by the way it progressed. The usage of Bane and Catwoman were all done wonderfully for the Nolan arc. So good. I wish they hadn't shown the football stadium attack in the trailer, it'd have been a lot more shocking to see in the film for the first time.

I'm sad to see it come to an end for the Nolan arc, but satisfied with the way it tied things up. And yes, I believe it is well tied up...may not be popular opinion, but I think it is.

I could say a lot about it! For the most part I liked it. It wasn't the best superhero movie this summer (ASM > The Avengers > DKR, IMO, but I'm also biased), but it was still pretty good. My biggest complaint with this one was
the big epic LotR style battle between the cops and the crooks, which felt completely out of place in a Batman movie, as well as Batman trying to out-fight Bane after he'd already had his back broken - fight smarter, not harder!!

but it was still a pretty solid movie. Once the trilogy is out on Blu-Ray I can FINALLY have some Batman movies in my collection (at least ones that don't star Beetlejuice).

I'd give DRK a B+ (and for reference, I'd give BB a B, DK an A+, ASM an A for some nitpicks and Dr. Connors not being very fleshed out, and The Avengers an A- for style over substance).
