FINALLY fuckin' beat Gears 3. We got a fourth person in our party and that helped smooth things out soooo much. It took us about five tries. Before the last try I stated "Alright, if we don't get her down this time, let's call it a night and try again tomorrow." And low and behold... we get her down and finish the fight!

I'll inevitably be trying this with my friends soon. What's the secret to beating her? Anything special?
Overall I really liked the campaign. Not perfect, but tons of fun. Every one teary-eyed moment.

Don't do three player co-op. Baird just ends up being dead weight. Get a fourth person. Focus two of them on Theron Guards and two of them on Queen duty. Designate two people to Hammer Of Dawns. Both alternating when she's down.

Do you all use consoles, then?

I'm totally a console person. Mainly 360 but sometimes something comes out for the PS3 and I pick it up... But that's often very rare.

I've already traded in Rage... it wasn't great. And instead of BF3 I went for Batman Arkham City. Worth it! Probably going to be picking up Dungeon Siege III when I pick up MW3. My friends have been egging me on to get DS3, so... I downloaded the demo, and kinda liked it. Not a fan of the downward camera angle, but I'll deal.

I'm also still going strong on Gears 3. We finally beat it on 4 player Co-Op Arcade, Insane mode. So relieved we beat it.

For a while there, I was playing Rage, Arkham City and Dark Souls concurrently... And yeah, Rage is the prettiest boring game that I've ever played. Arkham City is what I've been describing to people as a gameplay onion. There are just so many different layers to the things you can do in that game.

The Gears of War 3 DLC (Horde pack) was supposed to be released today, but delayed due to "technical difficulties." I was kind of ticked at first (cause I'm going on a trip tomorrow and wanted to try it before I left), but then I saw some people complaining online about how they'd taken off TWO DAYS OF WORK for this DLC. HAHA!
I no longer feel bad. I have a good life where videogames are just a hobby.

It's available now. Downloaded it a few moments ago. I'm excited to get home from work tonight so I can play some!

I actually put off buying Batman to pick up Killzone 3 on the cheap. Good gameplay, very average cutscenes (major clipping issues and voice syncing errors) GREAT multiplayer (although in my opinion, the "join game" section is a step down from KZ2).

I'm actually trying to step back a little from buying games straight away, instead living 6-12 months behind the market. This is so much easier now I no longer work at a Video Game store.

That's probably a good idea... and much cheaper. Though, of the games I've bought recently, the only one I've paid full price for was Dark Souls.

I tend to just buy games when they're cheap on Steam now. Of course, EA are actively trying to run this plan, so in the next year I'll have to seriously rethink it.

interesting article, single true for campaign based gameplay, but I have one major rebuttle...

multiplayer.

When I buy a game that has just come out (within two weeks or so) I'm usually pretty good at the multiplayer. I'm not the best on my team or winning every match, but overall I'm pulling my weight. Then I get busy, I put the game away for a month, and after signing back in... I get my butt kicked. "woah, have these guys done nothing but play this one videogame all month?" Seriously. When I was once having a grand old time, now I'm playing against guys who've ranked up 50 times, memorized the maps, and are probably putting in 10-20 hrs a week on this one game. Its insane.
Now imagine waiting a year before you bought a game and jumping in cold turkey.

Surely the only reason they slash prices so quickly now is that I bet at least 60% of people who want it buy it at launch. Look at the crazy figures for Battlefield and MW3! A succesful game now is 90% advertising, people get so hyped up for more of the same its ridiculous. I got sick of seeing the advert for Cod Blops.

And if you wait a year sometimes there won't be enough multiplayer to keep it worthwhile. I think thats got as much to do with the amount of idiots playing though; during free weekends and weekends when you get bonuses etc, and when a game's new. All you need to do well at a shooting game is a decent amount of practice, but you're right, when everyone else is full-on dedicated, ranked-up, geared-up, min-maxed (etc) you don't stand a flipping chance, esp if theyre part of a group.

Anyone interested in putting together a group of 5 people to pick up the new Achievements in Gears3?
