Leo was always my favorite turtle because he was the man in charge. I think it probably had more to do with him having the clearly superior arsenal of weapons (plus my favorite color is blue), but he never gave off the same dick cyclops vibe for me. None of the other turtles ever challenged Leo's authority, because Leo was pretty much always making the right call. The only one who ever gave any lip was Raph, and to me, Raph just seemed like the one being a dick.

The biggest difference between Leo and Cyclops is that Cyclops was the leader, and he seemed to fuggin love it. He never hesitated to give out orders to everyone. Leo did not want to be the leader. He was given the position as the leader because Splinter, as well as the other 3 turtles, felt he was the most mature and up to the responsibility.

Hold up there, cowboy. I don't think I'd ever go so far as to say that Cyclops 'loved' being the leader. He gives orders to everyone because he has been leader for so long.

Now, I'm not trying to be a Cyclops apologist, I'm just saying that the kid was thrust into the leader position early. But he was always self-conscious about being in the role. So he had a way of compensating which was to be a kind of arrogant prick.

But if you want to break it down to a deeper level, Cyclops is all about order and stability. He's The Man, you dig. People always liked Wolverine, because he's chaotic, he's the rogue. He's going to play by his own rules and he's going to eff you up.

That's not to say that I've not ever met fans of Cyke. There out there. But, yeah, he can be a jacktard.

Yeo saw the TMNT strip and said, "Phil had a slurpee? He had a slurpee when we went to see 300 too." then she furrowed her brow. i think she wanted a slurpee.

I think that Leo and Cyclopes are very different kinds of leaders. I've always thought of Leo as a samurai - he has honor and always thinks up good strategies to utilize his brothers unique personalities and abilities to overcome any situation. In the comics, he even took on the Shredder by himself while he was hunting foot clan members through the streets of NYC - although he lost this battle, he revealed that the Shredder was not dead as the Turtles had originally thought. Granted, this role was severely watered down in the new comics and cartoon.

Cyclopes is a little less interesting of a character in my mind. His role as leader has never really been questioned, but there are others who could be the leader of the X-Men if he were to go away. Leo isn't really replaceable among his brothers. No other Turtle could lead that team. In the movie, they make it seem like Raph could take his place if / when needed, but that doesn't really follow the classic continuity. Raph isn't a strategist - he likes to act, not plan. That's where his strength lies.

Also, it's unfortunate that the flick cut out Mike and Don almost entirely. I'm hoping that the next movie will balance their roles a little better, as they are interesting characters and do contribute to the team - it just wasn't apparent in this movie.

I have other feeling about some of the stuff that happened in this movie (April can suddenly hold her own against an army of foot clan members?), but overall I enjoyed it and will probably pick up the DVD when it comes out.

I'm listening to the fourth episode of the Triple feature right now. I find it interesting that Joe had no faith that a TMNT movie without Shredder would be successful. In fact, that it was asinine not to included Shredder in this flick.

One thing not mentioned in the review is that the movie is short; my brother and I went to see it, expecting to kill a good chunk of the afternoon, and even with trailers the thing was done in a little over an hour. There's a lot of stuff still packed into it, and it felt longer because of that, but in an age of 2.5 and 3-hour epics, seems like it's worth mentioning.

Well you also gotta factor in that it's a family movie and kids attention spans are short.
It just goes to show, never stick your dick in a pudding. It might still be good pudding and you can spend all afternoon explaining that but no one’s going to eat it BECAUSE YOU STUCK YOUR DICK IN IT. ~ Yahtzee

Shredder wasn't a big villian in the original comics...they just made him a big deal in the cartoons.

I am huge fans of both Leo and Cyclops. Cyclops is my second favorite X-Men next to Nightcrawler.

I think whedon's portrayl of him has been the most interesting. Up until torn that is. I won't ruin it but what the fuck...

Yes he was awesome. He was jsut cool cause he was German. Haha. I remember the old Xmen arcade game where it was like him, cyclops, colususs(sp), and i think wolverine and they each had a mutant power you could use. Nightcrawlers just made him teleport around the screen and he usually missed most of the people who were attacking. Those were good times.
