Solo 24 Hour Comic

Postby batsofchaos » Sat Nov 10, 2007 2:23 pm

I did like I said and started a 24 hour comic. The idea seed was given to me by Tink, and I'm using it as the title.

"He walked through the door to a room filled with peg-legged rabbits"

It's the end of the first hour, and I've scripted the whole thing and have drawn most of the first page. Here it is:

I'll try to update often, but I'm not going to stop every hour to do so. Hopefully Tink will be willing to post more frequent updates. Comments are appreciated, hopefully I'll finish on time!

Awesome, man. I'm so jealous I can't do this right along with you but I'm in your corner. You can do it! :D

Also - holy crap that's a hard premis to start with. I mean one peg-legged rabbit is hard enough to draw, but a room full of them?

You can do it, you can do it all night long!

Sweet concept, and I want to see where you go with it. :)

Hi everyone, I finally woke up and thought I would write you an update on Bats' progress. He's in a good mood, and currently shoveling tuna noodle salad down his gullet, he has 6 pages down so he's a head of the game.

Image

Page 2. He's going for a mostly dialogue-less comic.

Image

Page 6. The peg bunny will haunt my dreams.

Image

Fan shot of what he has done so far. I had to hold him back from taking a picture of every page, because I thought it would be nicer to have a little mystery when we scan it in.

Honestly the bunny seed was filler. I gave him five, and he landed on the bunnies. I likes the zombie babies better as a concept, but the bunny comic is turning out to be pretty funny. More updates later. :D

Howdy folks.

I've hit the half-way mark, twelve pages inked up pretty.

Image

I'm right now three strips ahead. If I stay at the same pace, I'll be done six hours early. I probably WON'T be at the same pace, as I'm starting to feel it. My wrist is kinda sore, my neck hurts, and I keep playing mind games like "12 comics is good enough, it's a noble failure." Then I tell myself that I'm only 9 hours in and if I give up now I'm a total pussy.

It's the 13th hour (God I've always wanted to say that) and Bats has 16 pages done with just 8 more until completion, so he's still being an over achiever. This really blows his whole procrastination cover story out of the water. No more putting off the dishes.

Anyway, he's taking a bathroom break currently, so by the time I see him again, the hours and page numbers might be pulling up to about even again...

Hour 14: merely 6 pages left in the 24 hour comic odyssey but I sent Bats to the showers. He was dragging ass and needed a break- besides he was getting kind of ripe.

More updates later.

We're halfway into hour 16 and I've got 20 pages done.

Four more to go and I can call it a night. Methinks I'll make it within the deadline. :D

My first attempt at a 24 hour comic....

IS A SUCCESS!!!

24 pages completed at 19 hours, well ahead of schedule. Since I didn't do any digital work, they've not been scanned and I'm tired so the finished product is going to have to wait until the morning. Here, however, is my glory shot:

Thanks everyone for the support and well-wishing. Have a good night/morning/whatever, everyone!

This looks fantastic. And surprisingly so you do. I was up all day yesterday as well (trying to correct my 'not having seen the daylight in 3 weeks' sleeping schedule) and looked awful. And I wasn't even trying to accomplish something awesome like this.

I really can't wait to read this. The first page reminds me so much of Kafka's Metamorphosis. And that bunny with the peg face is hardcore.
