That's a really nice ending. I think page 15 is my favorite of the bunch though.

Really great job Bats, and the updating online thing worked out really well too. That's just how I would want to do it with a mass 24-hour comic event.

Thanks everyone. I'm glad the ending gag worked.

As for hosting, I'm not sure yet. I've got some design-work to do on a site, and I need to do some more artwork for it, etc. I'll probably go for one of the large hosting sites. What's everyone's opinions on sites? Has anyone tried out Drunk Duck, Comic Genesis, and/or Webcomics Nation?

Thanks! I'm sure I'd be more flattered if I'd ever seen Oldboy and had made an homage intentionally. :oops:

The only intentional homage in there is the one to Dr. McNinja on the first page.

So it was the hallway full of bunnies, eh? Well, that's a cool-ass thing to be an homage. Is there such a thing as retconned homages? Crap, first finished comic I've drawn, and retconning is involved. Looks like I can get a job at Marvel!

The dust has settled a bit, and Charlie In: Comics is definitely going to be a reality (I pencilled a 6-page short while at work today, I think I'm addicted). For those of you that have been webcomicking longer than I, how would you suggest I do this? I think a M-W-F updating schedule would be the most manageable for me, but right now I have 8 weeks worth of strips done, and 2 more that just need inking. Should I really let that time pass (and continue to have a freaking gigantic buffer), should I post 'The Peg Bunnies' all at once and then go M-W-F forward, or should I do an aggressive every day update through 'The Peg Bunnies' to give me time to maintain the buffer? I know a lot of artists work 2 weeks in advance, and provided I ink all of this short I've pencilled (entitled "Charlie In: The Wrong Feet") soon , I'll have that buffer done.

Or on the other hand, since this strip isn't really a gag a day, should I go for a M-F 5 updates a week schedule to keep the pacing snappy? I have a day shy of 5 weeks ready now and inks away from 6 if I went that route. Five a week just seems kinda demanding, especially if I get writer's block.

What do you guys think?

And to revisit the hosting question, has anyone got any problems/praise for Drunk Duck, Webcomics Nation, or Comic Genesis?

So I think I'm pretty settled on everything and I'm ready to roll except I haven't figured out a host. I was going to go with Drunk Duck, but their interface either doesn't work with my computer, or it's purposefully misleading and aggravating. Either way I'm done struggling with getting shit to work on it. Does anyone have any hosting ideas? I'd go with Comic Genesis if I wasn't wary of how long it might take for them to approve me, and Webcomics Nation seems kinda tacky. I'd appreciate any advice.

Nicely done. I enjoyed the 24 hour comic. I do hate drunk duck with a passion though. So much. So much.

Good luck with the webcomic! I'm living proof that anyone can make one and I think you are a lot more creative than me so it should be good! I need to plug your stuff and send some of my 5 readers your way

Haha, thanks! If I may ask, why do you hate Drunk Duck? After some initial hiccups, it went together fairly smoothly and everything is fairly easy to manage. I suppose I could have gone self-hosted, but I don't want to spend any money on hosting at the moment and that sounds like an ass-ton of work without having the tools/know-how to make the updates self-automated. Bad experience, or what?

Some reasons to hate drunk duck:
It needs to hire a web designer, as the site has an inconsistant not cohesive look to it.
It follows no web standards and is all based on crappy code. (EG there are some upload boxes that don't work in Firefox. its all based on tables. if you hit enter while logging instead of clicking login, it fails. etc...)

The community is the redeeming factor, you can get larger exposure to a new project.

That being said I have been thinking for years about comic content management systems, and I honestly believe I could build a better social comics system, but I just don't have the time. (160 hours is what it would take) Ive considered taking exilecomics that way a few times but if I get into the business of hosting comics, Id have to be serious about it.
