I've never actually felt any sexual tension between them. It's always felt, to me, that Al was attracted to Lauren and the feelings and the emotions and whatnot. On Lauren's side, it's like she's been perpetually in the "maybe" state of mind considering Al. She's kept him at arm's length for the longest time and now is pissed at him for not being able to get ahold of him and a misunderstanding of him sexing up someone else.

I'm not taking her side on this. I don't know where Kevin's going with the storyline, but right now she's showing a sense of entitlement that disallows any empathy for her.

I... may have put a bit too much thought into this.

I've been in Al's situation before, so I tend to side with him a little more.
In his defense, Lauren hasn't shown the interest he has, and you can only hold out for a maybe for so long. He may have caught her at a bad time, but does that mean he should put his life on hold? I think Lauren just assumed he would.

Having said that, Al is probably feeling like a dick right now...and he should. :)

Is this the end?

I think Lauren is being very careless and presumptuous with Al's feelings here. She's kept him at arm's length for too long to pull this out now, maybe if she was attacking him for not supporting her as a friend sure, but this "you're screwing someone else" statement is definitely something else getting to her.

Still, good friends, husbands and wives, cat owners and cats need to have a throw down like this every once in a while to push away all the dross in the way of the relationship aside and actually communicate.

Now I don't necessarily think that Al's wrong in what he's feeling and saying. And, in the larger context of the story, I'm more on Al's side than I am on Lauren's. But when you go off like Al just did, there are not many ways in which you don't come out of it feeling like a jerk. Especially when Lauren when Lauren is feeling many of the same frustrations that Al is feeling.

Remember, we only really know Al's side of things.

And here we have it. Each party is both right and wrong to some degree here. But, Al, being the somewhat passive guy that he is, goes ahead and accepts that he's the one that's wrong.

I don't know where Kevin is going with this. I hope that someone else takes Lauren aside and let's her know that she's at fault here as well. But if Kevin doesn't go that route, that's also a painful, yet real way to go.

Can't wait to see. And wishing this were unfolding slightly faster.

Is this a bad time to mention that I'm currently experiencing a failed relationship.

I know I didn't announce it on here, but I got "let go" from my relationship responsibilities 2 weeks ago. It sucks.

Kevin, your comic is still awesome, though. Always seems to touch a cord with me, and connect on a level that appears uncanny!

That sucks, Trev. I hope you're doing alright with everything.

The thing with Al's position is that I've been exactly in that position before. You get all worked up, and you begin to feel a bit righteous, but you know for sure that you are right and the other person is wrong. So you throw it all out there, feeling confident that they're not coming back... and then they do. And suddenly you're not so sure that you were as right as you thought you were. And then all that righteous anger drains away and you're stuck with a lame apology on your tongue. The thing you gotta do... is pick yourself up, and try again. Maybe your anger isn't as righteous as it was, but there was anger there. And it was caused be something. And you need to air that stuff out or else it festers.

Whew... it's like a confessional here.

Trevor - sorry you're going through that. We've all been through it before, and it'll pass.

I've also had something like this happen in my life...probably more than once. And probably why it's so uncomfortable to write.
