The Day the Music Died (RIP Rock Band)
So I'm not sure how many of you know this, but next Tuesday marks the end of the weekly DLC for Rock Band. Since the game was released in November 2007, Harmonix has provided a steady stream of music to expand the content within the game. I didn't buy every track that was released (nor did I want to), but I admired their commitment to their players. But as the fake instrument genre waned and as we're on the cusp of a new generation of hardware, I guess it's time to say goodbye to Rock Band...I'll miss waiting every Friday to see what new songs would be released the following Tuesday. I'll miss playing the new tracks pretending I'm a rock star. But most of all I'll miss being able to write strips about Rock Band. Seriously, how many jokes have we gotten out of one franchise? (I think the only games we've gotten more jokes out of are Metal Gear and Assassin's Creed.)
Rest in peace, Rock Band...
